Hi, thank you for taking the time to view my exhibit! This exhibit has been in the works since January this year and has been a big project for me to undertake. I started this project as a part of my Level 3 Photography BTEC, for the final B2 Creative project in which we had full reign over a creative project. Although started as an endeavor via college, This exhibit is so much more than just a college project. As my final piece produced on this course, it serves as a display of my photography as a whole and everything I've learned up until this point - Many of the photos taken for this project are some of my favourite to date and will be for a long while. My idea behind this exhibit was to show off a multitude of abandoned buildings found in Northumberland, as they are relatively unknown of, even though they are on most people's doorsteps. I wanted to bring justice to these places to inspire others to explore similar areas, and show just how cool some of them can be. While the exhibit isn't massive, its my first dip into something like this and so it's only up from here.

As this was my first spin at creating a public exhibit to showcase my work, and the biggest project I've undertook up until now, a lot of effort went into this project. The research, the planning, the idea generation; it all comes together to be quite a tall order. It's a fun process and can be super rewarding but that doesn't mean it comes around without effort, which is a misconception I think many people who aren't directly creative or who aren't pursuing creativity as a career often make - But we do work hard to produce our work. Creative industries are a viable career path and if you are willing to put in the effort you will always make something of yourself and your work. Being a creative should not alienate you from other sides of the working world, and pursuing a creative career should not be looked down upon as much as it is, or as any less of a 'real' career.
For me personally, this project has kept some form of order in my life for the past few months and it's been great fun to work on. I love the creative freedom and expression I get through projects like this. I find having some creative expression, whether that be a hobby or a planned career, really can help get you through the worst of things and when looked back on in many years time they can be a great encapsulation of you as a person at the time the art was created.

I'm going to continue these types of projects. Whether that be via University, which I am starting in September, or just personal projects done of my own accord. Next up I plan to produce a small video project across the summer which I'll publish on Instagram, so keep a look out for that. As far as exhibits go, this is definitely the first of many as it's a super fun type of project to work on. I'd like to thank everyone who has supported my photography and creative journey over the past two years; Any and all support goes a long way. For now, I'm going to continue my photography, and keep pushing towards a career in the industry. Again, thank you so much for viewing this exhibit and for all your support.
